Municipal Police May Not Charge for Responding to Vehicle Accidents

As of last week, municipal police departments are prohibited from charging fees or seeking reimbursement of costs for responding to vehicle accidents. Act 69 of 2007 [html pdf] went into effect February 16, and makes this practice unlawful.

Despite the fact that municipalities constantly are looking for new ways to reduce or recover costs, this is one option that no longer is available for consideration.
