The other day, I posted a note that the PA State Board of Education had proposed new state-wide graduation requirements that were causing some controversy. By way of update, I wanted to provide you with some new information about the scope of this opposition.
Some districts in the western part of the state met to discuss the proposed requirements, with many in attendance voicing opposition to the proposal. Parents and Board Members in another district (Teddyffrin Easttown) have even created a website in response to the proposed GCA’s.
Finally, an unscientific poll has been started on the new Pennsylvania School Boards Association Message Boards to gauge the response from PA school districts. According to a post on that thread, 75 districts already have notified PSBA (as of this morning) that they have passed formal resolutions opposing the requirements.
I’ll continue to monitor this, so check back to see how this issue develops.
